Meet Gillian Martin - Our Lead Sonographer

Gillian Martin DCR(R), PgDip Medical Ultrasound, SRR.

I am a mum of two beautiful daughters and state registered Radiographer who has specialised in ultrasound. I attended Liverpool University for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Since qualification in ultrasound in 1999 I have acquired a vast array of experience in both the NHS and Private sector. Having been the Lead Sonographer within a large teaching hospital, I bring a passion for a more patient centered / holistic approach to my role as the CQC registered manager here at Ultrasound Care. One of my proudest achievements is to have worked on a pilot scheme to prove and implement a new service to support patients who had experienced a stillborn or neonatal death - “The Rainbow Clinic” within the Trust.

A dedicated professional, I have regularly lectured on the MSc Ultrasound courses at Liverpool University and St.Martin’s college, Lancaster.

I gained my Fetal Medicine Foundation Certificate of Competence for performing 11-13+6/40 scans (Nuchal Translucency) in 2006, and have maintained my licence since.

All the scans here at Ultrasound Care comply with the latest UK guidance / recommendations (NICE, NHS FASP, BMUS, FMF, RCOG, RCR) - thus you have the peace of mind that as well as producing “pretty pictures” of your unborn baby, we will also be performing a full diagnostic scan.

As someone who has been Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) checked and has undergone both Safeguarding Adults and Children level III training I believe that we are second to none for patient safety.

I hope you will come and visit us at Ultrasound Care and have an unique, enjoyable experience.  Providing you the reassurance that you seek that your baby is going and developing normally in a professional but approachable manner.
